Biography

Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Professor Emeritus, is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of Engineering and Technology.

He served as the Vice Chancellor of NED University of Engineering and Technology for two tenures from 2017 to 2024. Before this role, he held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture from 2010 to 2017, where he played a pivotal role in modernising the engineering education and fostering innovation.

Currently, he is also serving as the Senior Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Council. During his tenure, NED University made significant improvements in its ranking and was ranked among the top 400 universities of Asia by QS Ranking and among the top 200 Universities of the World by Times Higher Education Impact Rankings in 2024. 

He is the author of over 125 publications, including books, book chapters, edited proceedings, journal and conference papers.

Awards

Dr. Lodi has received several awards for his services in teaching, research and other endeavours including

  • The National Engineering Excellence Award by the Institution of Engineers Pakistan in 2023
  • The Engineering Excellence Award by Pakistan Engineering Council in 2022
  • The Pride of Performance by the Government of Pakistan in 2019
  • The Research Excellence Award by the NED University in 2016.
  • The most coveted “Tamgha-i-Imtiaz” by the Government of Pakistan in 2025.
